Premium Garden Gym Specialist Defies Market Slowdown with 118% Growth in Buyer Demand 

Garden Gyms On The Rise 

Green Retreats reports interest for garden gyms has more than doubled year on year, despite wider market interest in home gyms cooling.

The home gym boom may have settled since its pandemic peak, but new data from Green Retreats suggests demand for premium garden gyms is entering a new phase.

Analysis of the company's website traffic shows searches for garden gyms increased by 118.35% year on year. 

The figures come despite Google data showing broader search interest for terms such as garden gym (-34.1%) and home gym (-18.2%) has declined compared with previous years.

Rather than signalling a drop in demand, the market is becoming more focused, with homeowners carrying out more detailed research before investing in a permanent fitness space.

Buyers Are Becoming More Intentional

Homeowners are increasingly looking for dedicated spaces that can support strength training, cardio, recovery and wellbeing without sacrificing valuable living space inside the home.

Fully insulated garden rooms also allow equipment to remain permanently set up and provide a comfortable environment throughout the year, making regular exercise more convenient regardless of the weather.

Vari Wilson, Marketing Manager at Green Retreats, said: "The home fitness market has matured significantly over the past few years. While overall search volumes have softened, at Green Retreats we're seeing much stronger engagement from people who are actively researching premium garden gyms."

She adds, "These aren't impulse purchases. Homeowners are carefully planning spaces that become a permanent part of their lifestyle, allowing them to train at home without converting a spare bedroom or taking over the garage."

Green Retreats believes the data reflects a wider change in how homeowners view outdoor buildings.

Rather than creating single purpose rooms, many customers are designing multifunctional spaces that can evolve over time, combining gym equipment with areas for yoga, recovery, home working or hobbies.

"We're seeing customers think much further ahead than they did a few years ago. They want a building that supports their health today while remaining useful for decades to come. That shift in mindset is helping drive demand for higher quality garden rooms."
